A Double Feature

Friends, a little something for your trouble. First, from the gone-too-soon new incarnation of V, the lovely Morena Baccarin. I mean just wow!

And then our Princess of the Panhandle, gone to a major market but not forgotten in our forlorn little corner of creation. The always lovely Lauren Dorsett.

You May Be A History Buff If...

Famous collaborators mourn producer Phil Ramone:

My first thought was: Which one?  Quisling?

Yes, I'm odd.  You knew that already, right?

There Is Absolutely Nothing That Is Not Made Better With A Dash of Shat

And, for the record, this commercial is closer to being "real" Star Trek than anything JJ Abrams has given us or is likely to.  Star Trek is a heck of a lot more than lens flares, 20-something prettyboys and Matrix-wannabe fight scenes.

Just saying.

Our Gaydar Is Perfectly Calibrated, Thank You For Asking

Back in the day we spent quite a bit of time talking about Weekend Today.

More specifically, we talked about Amy Robach and Jenna Wolfe.  Lester?  Not so much.  Oh, we like Lester, he's a newsman's newsman, Jim Philips is right about that one.  He doesn't do quite the same thing for us as Miss Amy, however.

2-3 years later and how things have changed.  Miss Amy's perfect calves no longer grace the Weekend Today set and even Jenna has been relegated to the newsreader desk in favor of Erica Hill.

Now, we were fans of Erica's back when she was the Albino's (AKA Anderson Cooper) second banana, but these days we find her cold and without personality.  Just another example of NBC screwing the pooch where personnel are concerned (we're even starting to have a soft spot for Jay Leno, but that's for another day).

Anyhoo...  Jenna Wolfe...  We've spent so much time on her in the past that we really couldn't let today go by without saying something.  We always suspected that Jenna might be playing for the other team...  Sporty,  could kick our ass, no mention of a boyfriend...  Today, our suspicions were confirmed when she announced that she and her partner are expecting a baby.

No time to get into something too deep here.  Suffice it to say that our attitude re: gay marriage is evolving and a little uncertain at the moment.  As with many of the divisive social issues we face, Federalism would seem to be the answer.  At any rate, our attitude toward lesbians, particularly attractive ones, has always been...  Well...  We'll use the word complex and leave it at that.

For now, let's just say mazel tov to the happy family.
